As a photojournalist, I work mainly for NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Helvetas, Biovision, Ruedi Lüthy Foundation and Rainbow Support Network. Alongside this, I publish my freelance work digitally and in newspapers, magazines and books.

I've been working as a photographer and journalist since I was 15. I started as a freelance journalist for Swiss newspapers. Later, I worked as a radio and television journalist, presenter and host.

Bloody serious by Patrick Rohr on Exposure

In 2012 I returned to my first love and completed a four-year course in portrait and documentary photography at the renowned Photo Academy Amsterdam, graduating cum laude with the multimedia story "Bloody Serious" in December 2015.

In 2017 Swiss public television covered my work as a photojournalist in the three-part series Fokus Japan. In 2018, 3sat broadcast the series internationally.

I also create freelance series, for example on the bloody search for a Ukrainian identity or the complexities of Japanese society. And I've visited the Chernobyl re-settlers and the traumatised people in Srebrenica.

In my book, Japan - Abseits von Kirschblüten und Kimono, I show Japan in a way that's different from the way a tourist may explore it. It's a very personal Japan.
