I have been working as a photographer and journalist since I was 15. My first pictures and texts were published in local Swiss newspapers. During my study, I worked as a freelance journalist for several national Swiss newspapers.
After some years working as a radio and television journalist, presenter and host, in 2012 I returned to my first love and completed a four-year course in portrait and documentary photography at the renowned Fotoacademie Amsterdam, graduating cum laude in December 2015.
Today I work mainly for NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Helvetas, Biovision, Ruedi Lüthy Foundation or Rainbow Support Network. Alongside this, I publish my photojournalistic work digitally and in newspapers, magazines and books.
In 2017 public Swiss television covered my work as a photojournalist in the three-part series Fokus Japan. In 2018, 3sat broadcast the series internationally.
Over the recent years, I have been commissioned by several development and humanitarian organisations such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Helvetas, Biovision.
I also create freelance series, for example on the bloody search for a Ukrainian identity or the complexities of Japanese society. And I visited the Chernobyl re-settlers and the traumatised people in Srebrenica.
In my book Japan - Abseits von Kirschblüten und Kimono, I show Japan in a way that's different from the way a tourist may explore it. It is a very personal Japan.About NGO Projects Book Patrick Rohr Kommunikation GmbH
